Kidsgrove suffered a 2-0 defeat with two second half goals earning Runcorn all three points.
The first twenty minutes was pretty even between the two sides with neither side able to produce anything in the final third.
Runcorn had the first real chance with a ball through the middle and Ryan Brown made a superb save to keep out the Runcorn striker and then moments later he pulled off another fantastic save to keep the scores level.
Runcorn continued to look dangerous, the best chance they had before half time was a shot from just outside the box and Ryan Brown got his finger tips to it to tip it over the bar to go into half time goalless.
The second half started like the first, no real chances created for either side. But just over half way through the second half, Runcorn took the lead when a cross came in from the left wing and Scott Lycett head it into his own net.
Kidsgrove were pushing for an equaliser, the best chance came to Kieran Knapper who found himself inside the box, but his shot is well saved by the Runcorn keeper.
Runcorn put the game to bed in the 90th minute as a header back to the keeper from the Kidsgrove defender was too short and Jamie Rainford lobbed the oncoming Ryan Brown and secured all three points to Runcorn.
Despite the disappointing result, they will take the positives from the game into the next game as Kidsgrove face another tough test next Saturday against Clitheroe at home.
