Olly Bould reports on a fantastic performance as Kidsgrove see victory

Two first half goals were enough to earn Kidsgrove all three points despite high pressure from Clitheroe in the second half.

It was good start for Kidsgrove as they had the better of the chances in the first fitfteen minutes, the best chance was when Kieran Knapper dribbled past a couple of defenders and managed to put in a cross, hard and low, Will Saxon was coming onto but he couldn't manage to get his foot on the cross.

Not so long after, Aaron Bott found himself in the box, looking to find space to shoot but he gets brought down and the referee pointed to the spot.

Lewis Bergin stepped up to take the penalty and his left footed shot found the bottom corner. Chris Thompson managed to get a hand to it but it wasn't strong enough to keep it out.

Clitheroe grew into the game more having a couple of chances but nothing to trouble Sam Booth too much.

Kidsgrove doubled their led after Chris Thompson made a good double save to deny josh Thorpe and from the resulting corner, Josh Thorpe headed it in, coming off the inside of the far post that gave Kidsgrove a two goal advantage going into half time.

Clitheroe started the second half strong and got a goal back when a free kick was put into the box and Cameron Lancaster was there with a glancing header to pull on back. it was game on.

Clitheroe piled on the pressure and even more pressure was put on Kidsgrove as they were forced to play with ten men for the last 15 minutes of the match due to running out of substitutes.

Booth was forced to make a couple of great saves but Kidsgrove were well organised and defended well and earned themselves a deserved three points.
